The Fuchs Academy's First Day of School

Yesterday we started our 2013-2014 school year with Alyvia in Second grade and Wyatt in Kindergarten/First grade.  The day started off a little rough for Wyatt who is not use to being told when he needs to get out of bed but I'm hoping today will work out better for that.  We completed all the work I had scheduled with minimal complaints.  Alyvia is my biggest fighter and we are going to get that under control.  She needs to realize we have to be a lot more structured this year because her and Wyatt are both schooling for real.  If she would just realize how much time she wastes resisting she could be done and on her way much earlier.  Not sure that is going to happen today but I'm hoping soon.  Consistency is hard for me too but for the kids and mainly for Lyv I feel it is necessary.  All together the day was very successful.  I'm about to wake the kids for day #2.  Here we go!!!!

Nice night out at the races!!!

Last night we did something I rarely have the will to do... we traveled out to Wyoming County with our three children to attempt to watch a night of racing.  I never would have entertained the idea if Jen and Jason didn't show interest in going too.  All together the night went rather smoothly.  We were a few minutes late but we were lucky enough to catch "Grandpa 0" in his heat race.  He started third and found himself in second place at the checkered putting him on the outside pole for the feature.  I let the kids play on the "playground" during intermission and through the four cylinder feature in hopes that they would sit nicely through the rest of the program.  No such luck as Mazlyn only wanted to return to the playground and Wyatt found himself face first in a dive on the bleachers. He was alright but a little embarassed.  I was lucky enough to contain Maz through the 30 lap (seemed like 100 laps after you count the caution laps) SST Modified feature.  Grandpa started strong but ended up spinning all alone on lap 4 which drew out the caution and put him to the back of the field, then on lap 13 several cars in front of him got together and left him with no where to go.  He ended up in the turn 3 wall in an attempt to miss the wreckage.  He was towed to the pits and his crew for the night (Tom, Nate, TJ, Deb and Jason) made an impressive effort to fix the right front hyme joint and got him back out onto the track before racing resumed.  This put him in 10th place and from there he was able to charge through and end up finishing in 4th.  We will take it!!  The kids loved cheering on their Grandpa and can't wait to go back to the track!!
Afterwards we traveled into the pits to congratulate Grandpa on a good race and to help get the car loaded so we could head home.
Here is Grandpas best little helper loading tires on the trailer!!  Lol.

Enjoying Spring!!

I am enjoying the beauty of spring even though the hussle and bustle of summer has already found the Fuchs Family.  Between the races and other family commitments it feels like there will be no break.  But we will find the time to just relax and enjoy each others company.  Hopefully before our new school year begins.  For now though my babies and I are off to the store and maybe even the library.

No promises on regular blogging but an update all the same!!

It's that time of year again.  We are finishing up the school year, getting ready for a week or two off and of course preparing for next year.

We received our homeschool curriculum in the mail just yesterday.  That was Wyatt just after I handed him his new texts.  He was super excited and when we flipped through them he kept asking if we could just start Kindergarten now.  I told him he had to wait a bit but that we would start it July 1st.

Lyvi was just as excited to get her new books.  We went through the first 20 lessons of her math book and did some review of adding three digit numbers, tally marks and counting hundreds, tens and ones.  She loved it and I was impressed by all she remembers.  I have no worries about her.  She will do great.  We also received her handwriting curriculum (Wyatt's too), she wants to do cursive and I am not yet convinced she is ready.  We are going to work on perfecting printing before moving onto cursive.

Mazlyn doesn't know it yet but he will also be doing some school this coming year.  Part of it will be his speech sessions (that he is doing very well at) but he will also be doing some letter and number activities along with his normal coloring and book listening activities.  Lol.

I am super excited about this year.  I'm going to be working with my Dad on the kids music class:  History of Rock and Roll!!  So happy to have him involved and so looking forward to learning about some more modern musicians.

For now I will say good bye.  Mazlyn is trying to type a message to all of our fans.  Lol
